Kickstarter Project of the Week: Guinea Pig Parkour
For this week’s Switch Kickstarter Project of the Week, we will be looking at Jeff Mumm’s Guinea Pig Parkour. The game is slated to release in December 2020 on PC, Mac, Linux and Xbox One with intentions to port over to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Here’s the overview:
Guinea Pig Parkour is a completely hand-drawn 2D platformer with adventure elements, drawing heavy inspiration from ’90s animated cartoons and games. It is being animated and developed completely by one person (Jeff Mumm). Music and SFX by Fat Bard.
In Guinea Pig Parkour, you are, appropriately enough, a guinea pig that does parkour. You’re also in the ’90s. Like totally in the ’90s.
Coffee is the source of your energy. I mean, if you’re like me, it probably is the source of your energy. But I meant in the game – it’s the source of Joe’s energy.
…Joe’s the guinea pig. There’s more to Guinea Pig Parkour than just parkour. When you go indoors or into certain areas, platforming gives way to a more classic adventure game style experience, allowing you to talk to, interact with, and annoy other characters.
When you’re a guinea pig, the plumber is a formidable enemy. You must escape intact before your soul is plunged from your body.
With hand drawn 2D animation, Guinea Pig Parkour’s aesthetic is incredible! It’s definitely giving me Earthworm Jim vibes but with more colour and smooth HD graphics. If you check out the Kickstarter page, you’ll see some of the hand drawing process which I’ve got to say, is absolutely mesmorising.
Guinea Pig Parkour requires $20,000USD and is currently sitting at $18,352USD after 760 backers with 18 days remaining. So if you’d like to support the development of this game and secure yourself a copy, click the link below.
