6 Indie Games from PAX Aus 2024 to Look Forward to (or play now)

PAX Aus is like Christmas to us Aussie gamers! We look forward to it each and every year, and after we get our Nintendo fill, we spend most of our time in the indie section. But Nintendo weren’t at PAX Aus this year, so we spent all our time with the indies.

After a three-day sleuth, we've put together our list of six indie games from PAX Aus 2024 to look forward to that are coming to Nintendo Switch.

The Drifter

Release: TBD
Developer: Powerhoof

The Drifter has been in development for quite some time now, so we were very excited to see how it had come along. Pixel art point and click adventure games hold special places in gamers’ hearts, my own included, and this new title from the developers of Crawl have done a wonderful job. It’s rich with Aussie voice actors and shows promise to be a bloody good time!

Nekograms

Release: OUT NOW
Developer: Hungry Sky

Nekograms is fun, and that’s all we can ever ask of a video game. With cute cats and inventive feline-related puzzles, it’s a perfect title to sit back with in short bursts in between bouts of chaos that seem to control our lives. Better yet, Nekograms is out right now, and it’s only AU$10.99. So the real question is: why haven’t you downloaded it yet?

Omochapon

Release: OUT NOW
Developer: ShawnTheMiller

We do love a good 3D platformer, and Omochapon combines this with the cuteness of gachapons you’d find in those Japanese capsule machines. As you take on the role of a bunch of different toys, you roam throughout a Japanese mall. And just like Nekograms, Omochapon is also available now. Go! Go!

Servonauts

Release: 2025
Developer: MAXART Games

Over to party games, Servonauts will be a no-brainer to boot up when friends and family come around. Servonauts is an absurd couch co-op gas station builder for up to four players. We had a whole lot of fun playing this one and can’t wait for its eventual release next year.

Squat Ops

Release: TBD
Developer: Parasol Corp

This one was probably the most unique of the bunch at the PAX Rising section. Squat Ops is a military stealth game that is controlled by, that’s right, squats! With the help of the Joy-Cons’ motion controls, you’ll soon be able to perform military operations while strengthening your buns.

Which Way Up: Galaxy Games

Release: Q1 2025
Developer: Turtle Flip Studio

Described as a game that if Super Mario Galaxy was a 2D party game, Which Way Up: Galaxy Games is a game that pits players against one another across 12 galaxy mini-games. If you’re a fan of games like Mario Party and Boomerang Fu, add this to the list of games to play when friends and family come over, right next to Servonauts.
