Kickstarter Project of the Week: Duru
For this week’s Switch Kickstarter Project of the Week, we will be looking at Twisted Ramble Games’ Duru. The game is slated to release in November 2020 on PC and Mac, with a Nintendo Switch port coming later.
Here’s the overview:
Duru is a 2D puzzle platformer about the mole rat Tuli, who is suffering from depression. The focus of the game is on misunderstandings that may happen in every day social situations with someone who suffers from this illness. It also offers some solutions that can help in this situations. So this game is for those who want to learn about depression but are afraid of the topic. It is also a game for players who are looking for a different approach to puzzle platformers due to the AI (artificial intelligence) game mechanic / companion, that works with and against players.
With Duru we want to raise awareness about depression. You will get to know a colorful yet serious approach to learn more about mental health and you can help people who are affected by this illness.
Games that talk about mental illness are all games worth talking about. Duru looks to discuss depression in a lighthearted approach that makes the heavy topic easily digestible. The mole rats are cute and the aesthetic is cuter. In addition, the puzzle platforming elements allows the game to be taken at a slower pace, with a greater emphasis on its plot and its colourful cast of characters.
Duru requires €15,000 and it is currently sitting at €5,495 after 141 backers with 55 days remaining. If you’d like to support the development of this game to help it come to Nintendo Switch, click the link below to visit the Kickstarter page.
