Rick May, the original voice actor for Peppy Hare and Andross in the beloved Star Fox 64, has recently passed away due to COVID-19.

In February, May had suffered a stroke and was moved to a nursing home for rehabilitation but sadly, he contracted the virus whilst there. He was moved to a Swedish hospital but unfortunately passed.

For Nintendo fans, the line “Do a barrel roll” is iconic and will always be remembered. The line became so popular that, as many know, you can type the phrase into Google search and the screen will do a barrel roll too.

May was not only synonymous with Star Fox 64 as he was also the narrating voice and the voice of Genghis Khan in Age of Empires II, as well as being the voice of The Soldier in Team Fortress II.

Outside of video games, Rick May loved theatre. He either directed or appeared in over 300 shows and was a director at Renton City Theatre and Civic Light Opera for many years. May also taught theatre at Rekindle School in Seattle, Washington and will be sorely missed by his students and co-workers.
