Kickstarter Project of the Week: Edgeguard Keyboard Adapter
For this week’s Switch Kickstarter Project of the Week, we will be looking at Daniel Kaspo’s Edgeguard Keyboard Adapter. This device is slated to release approximately early/mid 2021.
Here’s the overview:
Some games are just better with a keyboard. Games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,Rivals of Aether, and Super Mario Maker require immediate actions and quick-turnarounds. You also have games like Tetris 99 that benefit from using arrow keys rather than a small D-Pad.
For those who can’t use controllers. We are excited to see players who may have had physical difficulties playing on controllers be able to find a keyboard that enables them to join in on the fun. Our dream is that by making the community more open and accessible to others, we can help create a thriving environment where people from all backgrounds can come and compete – or just have fun!
Express yourself! We want to see players express themselves and find a keyboard that works best for them, both in style and in comfort.
This is where the Edgeguard will shine. We plan on making the Edgeguard highly customizable – it won’t matter what keyboard you have or what layout it uses, you’ll be able to turn it into a controller that works best for you. We’ll support multiple profiles, advanced angle creations, and modifier key support because “J” shouldn’t have to be the same as “Shift + J“.
I can’t say that I’ve ever wanted to play Nintendo Switch games on my keyboard, but I don’t represent all 50 mil+ Nintendo Switch owners now, don’t I? The Edgeguard Keyboard Adapter gives players the ability to play the games that they want to play the way that they want to play them. The Nintendo Switch is all about freedom of choice and if this adapter enhances that possibility, then the more power to you!
The Edgeguard Adapter requires US$13,500 and is currently sitting at US$4,912 after 70 backers with 18 days remaining. If you’d like to support the development of this adapter, click the link below to visit the Kickstarter page.
