For this week’s Switch Kickstarter Project of the Week, we will be looking at Cheesemaster Games’ Spirittea. The game is slated to release approximately in January 2022 on PC, Mac and mobile. In regards to a Switch port, here’s what was said:

Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch are also options if finances allow.

Here’s the overview:

In Spirittea you play as a writer who has moved to a small town in the countryside in hopes that the change of scenery will help you finish writing your book.  Unfortunately for you, this particular town has been going through some difficult times due to natural disasters, strange accidents and mysterious occurrences.  After drinking from an ancient teapot you gain the ability to temporarily see into the spirit world only to discover that the town is haunted by a bunch of angry spirits. It is up to you to re-open the old bath house on the mountain where the spirits once rested, and to search high and low to find and convince them to soak their stress away.

In Spirittea your character is a writer, so in its simplest form the goal of the game is to finish writing the book you’ve started.  However, to do this you will need find inspiration from the activities you take part in:

  • Locate Spirits
  • Bath House Management
  • Befriending Locals
  • Fishing
  • Bug Catching
  • Digging for Treasure
  • Customise your Character
  • Figure Collecting
  • Gathering Tea
  • The Arcade Cabinet

Spirittea looks like a dream that you just don’t want to wake up from. The charm, the setting, the relaxation, it all culminates to an experience that warms you up inside – quite like a nice hot cup of tea. With the inspirations clearly showing from Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon and Studio Ghibli, Spirittea looks like a game that I could see myself getting lost in for weeks (probably months, let’s be honest).

Spirittea requires CA$18,000 and is currently sitting at CA$1,843.29 after 59 backers with 26 days remaining. So if you’d like to support the development of this game and some hardworking developers in their time of need, click the link below to visit the Kickstarter page.
