One of the first things you’ll notice in the Village of Lupia is the corked well that says: One cork a day keeps the secrets away!

Monster Boy Corked Well

This is probably one of the most obscure puzzles in the game and from what we can tell, there are absolutely no in-game hints that tell you what to do…

… But that’s what the internet is for! So let’s go through this puzzle, one step at a time.

Monster Boy Corked Well

We’re going to start from left to right, just to make things simple. You’ll need to find five switches throughout the outside of the Village of Lupia in order to open the corked well. Some of which you’ll need the pig to sniff it out, and others are completely hidden and almost impossible to find. But here they are:

Switch #1

Duck down and poke with your sword behind the box that is next to the armorer and the blacksmith…

Switch #2

The next switch is on the blue roof of the inn. Jump onto the right side, duck down and poke into the roof on the left of where you are where a hidden switch is…

Switch #3

The third switch is on the platform just left of the top of the windmill. The platform has a magic chest on it, if that helps. When you get up to that platform, transform into the pig and sniff out the hidden switch on the right side of the platform.

Switch #4

This switch is just to the right of Ollie the musician. As the pig, sniff out the switch next to him, just to the left of the sign.

Switch #5

For the fifth and final switch, you’ll need to be at the door of the Sanctuary. The switch is in the top-right corner of the arch. Jump up and strike at it.

Once you’ve done that, a + will appear on the White Tower in front of the warp point.

When you get there, transform into the frog and you are going to need to use your tongue to rotate the circle many times in this specific order:

Once that’s all done, the corked well will now be open!

Now that you’re inside, transform into the pig and sniff at the cloud. This will reveal a clock face on the stone, which is a hint that you need to look at the clock tower in the background back up and out of the corked well.

The clock hands will point at five different times, which indicates what order you should light the torches down in the well.

However for the sake of this guide, the order is: 3, 1, 4, 2, 5.

Once that’s done, the door will open and you can head on through. You’ll enter a room that resembles the early 80s, with a jukebox and what looks like an old Atari console with the single joystick control…

Go up to the console and press Y (on the Nintendo Switch version). It’ll look like the game is glitching, but it’s not. A warning message will come up in five different languages…

But after a few seconds, you will drop down onto the Warning text. Here, you’ll need to attack and get rid of all of the text before the loading bar on the bottom fills in. There are a few ways to get rid of the text, but I preferred to be the lion and dash through each one row-by-row.

Monster Boy Corked Well

To get the bottom row, you can actually walk on what is filled in of the loading bar. When standing on it, hack at the bottom row…

Once that’s done, you’ll be in the old game (so cool)! Make your way to the far-left. All of the enemies only take one attack to defeat, so don’t stress about dying.

In the room, there will be a metal dragon for you to defeat. To defeat it, you’ll need to attack its head four times.

Monster Boy Corked Well

Now that that’s done, a chest will appear that will contain your prize: a Heart Piece!
